This Privacy Policy describes how Snapd ("we," "our," or "us"), developed by Joshua Green, collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Snapd mobile application and website (collectively, the "App"). By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
1. Developer Information
Snapd is developed and operated by Joshua Green, an independent developer based in the United Kingdom.
- Developer: Joshua Green
- Email: hello@snap-d.app
- Website: www.snap-d.app
2. Information We Collect
A. Content You Provide
When you use Snapd, you may provide images (from your camera or photo library) to extract event details. Images are sent to our processing service to run AI extraction.
We do not permanently store your raw images in our database. Your device may temporarily store images or image data while a scan is in progress.
You may also use voice input to create calendar events. Voice recordings are processed in real-time using speech recognition technology (Web Speech API on web, or native speech recognition on mobile devices) and converted to text. We do not store your voice recordings—only the transcribed text is sent to our AI service for event extraction.
B. Account & Authentication Data
If you create an account or sign in, we collect identifiers needed to authenticate you and run the service (for example, your email address and a provider user identifier).
C. Event Data You Save or Share
If you choose to save events, we store extracted event information (such as title, date, time, location, and notes) in our database so it can appear in your in-app calendar.
If you create or join a shared calendar, we store the calendar details (name, color), member information (including email addresses of invited members), and all events within that calendar. Events in shared calendars are visible to all members based on their role (owner, editor, or viewer).
If you use business features to create share links/QR codes, we store the event details needed to generate and serve that share link, and we may store scan analytics (for example, scan timestamps and whether the event was added).
You may also add personal notes to calendar months. These notes are stored in our database and are private to your account.
D. Feedback Data
On the results/summary screen, you can answer a simple "Did we get it right?" question.
- YES: we store a vote count and limited technical metadata.
- NO: we store your vote and a snapshot of the AI output shown at the time so we can diagnose what went wrong (this snapshot may include extracted event text) and will only be visible to the developer at the time of reviewing. Once a fix is deployed, we will delete the context of the event that was used.
E. Usage, Diagnostics & Analytics
We may collect usage and diagnostics information to operate, secure, and improve the App. On the web version, we use Vercel Analytics to understand aggregate usage patterns. This data is anonymized and does not personally identify you.
F. Purchases & Transaction Data
If you purchase subscriptions or credits, purchases are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and may be managed through RevenueCat. We receive purchase/entitlement status necessary to provide paid features. We do not directly collect or store your payment card details.
G. Referral Program Data
If you participate in our referral program, we collect:
- Referral Code: A unique code linked to your account for tracking referrals.
- Device Identifiers: Anonymous device IDs to prevent fraud and abuse (such as detecting self-referrals and bot activity).
- Referral Activity: Records of who you referred, when they signed up, and their purchase history (to award referral bonuses).
- Credit Transactions: Logs of referral bonuses awarded to your account.
We use this data solely to operate the referral program, prevent abuse, and award credits. Device identifiers are anonymized and not linked to personally identifiable information beyond fraud detection purposes.
H. Device Permissions
The App may request the following permissions:
- Camera: To capture images of event materials for AI extraction.
- Photo Library: To select existing images for processing.
- Microphone: To use voice input for creating calendar events. Voice recordings are processed in real-time and are not permanently stored.
- Notifications: To send you reminders about saved events and updates to shared calendars (optional).
You can manage these permissions at any time through your device settings.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the App's functionality
- Process images through AI to extract event information
- Store and display your saved events
- Authenticate your account and maintain security
- Process purchases and manage subscriptions
- Operate our referral program, track referrals, and award bonuses
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms of Service
- Respond to your inquiries and support requests
- Analyze usage patterns to improve user experience
- Comply with legal obligations
5. AI Processing & Third-Party Services
Snapd uses third-party services to provide core functionality:
- Image & Voice Analysis (AI): When you process an image or use voice input, your content and related context (such as locale/date-format preferences and optional focus filters) are sent to our servers and processed using AI technology to extract event information.
- Speech Recognition: Voice input is processed using your device's native speech recognition capabilities. Voice recordings are converted to text in real-time and are not stored.
- Authentication & Database: We use third-party services for login, identity management, and to store account data, saved events, shared calendars, sharing data, and feedback.
- Location Services: When you add a location to an event, we use third-party mapping services to provide address autocomplete suggestions and display static map images.
- Push Notifications: We use third-party notification services to deliver push notifications for event reminders and shared calendar updates. Your device token is stored to enable notification delivery.
- Purchases: Subscriptions and credit purchases on mobile devices are processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. These platforms have their own privacy policies. We receive purchase/entitlement status but do not directly collect or store your payment card details.
- Analytics: We may use analytics services to understand aggregate usage patterns. This data is anonymized and does not personally identify you.
- Calendar Import/Export: You can import events from .ics files and export your events as .ics files. We generate these files locally and do not directly access or sync with your external calendar applications.
Each third-party service operates under its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review these policies.
6. Data Retention & Security
We aim to retain data only as long as needed for the service:
- Images: Images are processed for AI extraction and are not permanently stored in our database. They are discarded after processing is complete.
- Account data: Retained while your account is active and for a reasonable period thereafter to comply with legal obligations.
- Saved event data: Retained until you delete it or close your account (subject to operational or legal requirements).
- Feedback data: Retained for as long as needed to improve service quality and prevent abuse, and may be deleted or anonymized over time.
- Widget data: If you use Android home screen widgets, event data displayed on widgets is stored locally on your device and updated when events change.
- Security measures: We use industry-standard safeguards including encryption in transit (TLS), secure authentication, and access controls to protect your data.
7. Data Sharing & Disclosure
We do not sell your personal data. We may share your information in the following circumstances:
- Service providers: With third-party services that help us operate the App (as described in Section 4).
- Legal requirements: When required by law, court order, or governmental authority.
- Protection of rights: To protect the rights, property, or safety of Snapd, our users, or others.
- Public sharing features: If you create a QR code or share link, anyone with the link may view the shared event details.
- Shared calendar members: If you create or join a shared calendar, your profile information (name, email) and events you create are visible to other members of that calendar based on their access role.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal data under applicable laws such as the UK GDPR, EU GDPR, or CCPA:

10. Children's Privacy
Snapd is not intended for use by children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at hello@snap-d.app. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child without parental consent, we will take steps to delete such information promptly.

Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your country of residence, including countries that may have different data protection laws. When we transfer data internationally, we take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your information in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable laws.
